The three members of Hairdo have been playing together in Kutztown, PA for less than a year, but they are already turning heads with their unique sound; think synth-driven experimental rock with plenty of post-punk thrown in there for good measure. This is what you get when you throw together favorite records from everyone like Wire and Gang of Four to Oingo Boingo and Primus. The band is made up of bassist and vocalist Martha, keyboardist and vocalist Lee, and drummer Sydney (Poor Luther’s Bones).
Hairdo played their first gig at Tape Swap’s Ice House show in Bethlehem back in January along with Arch of Love and Lovelorn. Since then, the band has been gaining converts across Kutztown and the Valley at shows like the Soft Guts Collective’s Goth Prom at National Sokols and—since the coronavirus precautions—the Lehigh Valley Girls Rock livestream benefit. With the band eyeing their first official recorded material in the near future, expect more from Hairdo soon.
The band was recorded live on the Flatiron Building in Bethlehem, PA in August 2020. This session debuted on WDIY 88.1 FM later that month.
