What do you get when two of the Lehigh Valley’s mos proficient surf rock musicians combine their musical efforts? The answer is Sun Bus, a five-piece band that invokes Dick Dale, sandy beaches, and weather much warmer than Pennsylvania’s frigid January malaise.
Guitarist Erik Santana, who was releasing music under the name Mamphibian, and multi-instrumentalist Egan Miller, who was recording under the name Cosmic Mud, found kindred spirits in each other in 2022. Blending their psychedelic-tinged surf rock sounds, they have rounded out the band with three other members: Zach Martin on keyboards, Grace Young on bass, and Jesse Braun on bass.
Sun Bus joined Tape Swap Radio at Shards in January 2026 for this session. The band played three older tracks from their catalogue, all released as singles between 2023 and 2024 (“Ghost Tsunami,” “Surging Waves of Venus,” and “Diablo Del Mar”) along with one more recent song released on the band’s new 2025 EP Tune In, Turn Up, Paddle Out (“8 Ball Shark”).
